The usual trio of friends, LOS TRES Caminantes, postponed the original idea for the hike planned Almost a year ago, has come easy but very interesting trip.
The idea was to take part of Via Francigina between Alton and Fucecchio, just to see the pavement suddenly discovered a few years ago and after Galleno hilly paths, then, reached Poggio Adorno, leaving the ancient route to admire the villa overlooking the small carriers Bargagli relief. Going to see Montefalcone then reach the small village with the other villa Bargo, founded as a castle at the time of the accounts of Cadolingi Fucecchio, the church of Saints Quirico and Juliet and forests dellla Cerbaie.
The history of the area ranges from the Middle Ages of the tenth century (Via Francigena) to that of the fourteenth century with the wars between Pisa and Lucca to the period of domination from the late fifteenth century Florence, where the most distant epochs appear to have provided major insights of the historical area, should also remember the events surrounding the War II world when the woods were hiding strategic deposits of the Italian army and German, then later passed under the control of the Allies, especially as a logistics center involved in the sorting of the Brazilian contingenge Fifth Army.
The clear day, the many shady stretches along the way, the coolness of the woods in the final stretch made a pleasant excursion that ended in a resort Cerretti, a village of Santa Maria a Monte.
And the project shelved? There's time: maybe next year you can do so and in that case, our three friends will be there and tell us about it.
Hello everyone.
ps: If anyone is interested contact me at the GPS track and I will be happy to send you.
